I have taken a quick look to see if this is related to LGD pedestals. The results of this are presented below. Some, but not all, of Dima's problems can be attributed to bad pedestals/thresholds in the map. In addition, there are runs with threshold problems that are not on Dima's list. (As a reminder, the threshold defines the ADC value required for a hit to be generated - the hit is generated by subtracting the pedestal from the ADC value). The numbers presented below represent the average values for all 3053 channels of LGD. Those marked with an X in column 4 are in Dima's list. To be included in this list, a run has to: a) Be on Dima's list or b) Have a pedestal > 18 or a threshold > 25 A typical good run has pedestal ~15, threshold ~20. The cuts I used are arbitrary, and need to be refined more. I have not added anything to the bad run list, since we may be able to fix this by deleteing the bad entries from the map - someone needs to look and see if this works and we also still need to figure out some of Dima's problems with runs that look ok here. I'm not sure that recalibration will be needed - we should probably look at the runs using values closer to what we think is correct (the most recent "good" values for the run in question) and see if it looks ok. Only recalibrate if we really have to, since it is a bit of a pain to do. We also need to see why some of the other runs with bad pedestals are not in Dimas list - do they have no data in them? I'm not very well setup right now to look at the data in these runs - I don't have a data sample on disk, and I would have to hunt for them in the skim tapes, so someone else should look at this more -Dima?
